<p>When JD:E started out back in late 2005, we assumed that since video podcasts were such a new phenomenon, we'd almost instantly become a featured podcast on the iTunes page by default, thereby catapulting us into the realms of Internet superstardom...</p>
<p>Well, that kind of success just wasn't in the cards for us. But we soldiered on, and have since produced a whole bunch of lightly watched episodes and sold literally <strong>a dozen</strong> DVD sets. Needless to say, all expectations were exceeded, at least <strong>a dozen times</strong> over.</p>
<p>But at some point last week, we finally realized our initial vision for JD:E when we were featured in the Podcasts section of both the Canadian and American iTunes Music Stores, which is pretty neat. If you've arrived on this page through our link on iTunes, congratulations for making what is likely one of the smartest decisions you've made in recent weeks.</p>
<p>Particularly hilarious about the whole thing is our placement on the main iTunes page in the "What We're Watching" pane. I'm pretty sure it's the first time we've ever been lumped in the same category as <a href="http://www.aetv.com/genesimmonsfamilyjewels/">Gene Simmons Family Jewels</a> and <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099938/">Kindergarten Cop</a>, so it's obviously a pretty big honour.</p>

<p>So yes, we're still <a href="http://www.bite.ca/onTV/">on BiteTV</a>, new episodes are still on the way, and most excitingly, our upcoming sixth exciting season will be shot in high definition. It certainly is an exciting time for you, the JD:E viewer, no?</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As you may have already noticed, the final episode of Jim Dupree's exciting fourth season has still yet to appear, many months after <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fibonacci">Fibonacci</a> would have intended it. But there is good news around the corner (if you, in fact, still give a crap about the show)...</p>
<p>After over a year of preparations and dealings and meaningful pauses, we have finally finalized our return to <a href="http://www.bite.ca/">BiteTV</a>, with an exciting second season containing 30 episodes, 10 of which have <b>never been seen by human eyes before</b>.</p>
<p>But what does this mean for you, the loyal Internet viewer?</p>
<p>It means that the final episode for the fourth podcast season will be posted <b>within weeks</b>, and a entirely new <b>fifth exciting season</b> will be starting in early 2009! No joke! We're getting paid to do this!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>So it's been about a year since the last post here, yet JD:E still gets mentioned periodically on the many blogs and webpages that the Internet is comprised of. Here are some of the ones that I was able to track down.</p>
<p>Earlier this year, our good e-friend <a href="http://offonatangent.blogspot.com/">Steve Garfield</a> brought Jim Dupree: HDTV Enthusiast to the <a href="http://pixelodeonfest.com/">Pixelodeon Independent Video Festival</a> as a part of his <a href="http://offonatangent.blogspot.com/2007/08/pixelodeon-annual-independent-video.html">I Watched, I Laughed, I Vlogged</a> showcase. It was played on a big screen, which is ridiculous. Thanks so much, Steve.</p>
<p>The folks at Sugartune's <a href="http://www.sugartune.com/indie_rock/2006/12/18/enthusiastic-about-jim-dupree-enthusiast/">The Indie Rock Blog</a> were all over the series, saying that Jim Dupree was a "hopelessly, inept boner" and that</p>

<p>Thanks, Sugartune, for one of the most colourful descriptions of our podcast ever!</p>
<p>A JD:E thread appeared on the <a href="http://www.metafilter.com/64644/Thats-why-I-carry-my-coins-in-this-ingenious-deviceI-think-its-Ziploc-thats-the-company-that-makes-them">MetaFilter Community Weblog</a> where user <a href="http://www.metafilter.com/user/10584">Down10</a> commented: "Mundane is the new extraordinary." We're glad you think so.</p>
<p><a href="http://descriptionto.blogspot.com/2006/04/description-16-le-rocket.html">Valerie In Toronto</a> decided that the podcast was "hilarious" after meeting "the other guy" at a podcasting meetup. It would also seem as if she (or somebody else with the same first name, at least) is looking to help launch Dan into <a href="http://www.insidethecbc.com/comedyonline#comment-7076">CBC primetime</a>. I'd pick Dan over <a href="http://www.triplesensation.ca/">Triple Sensation</a> any day.</p>
<p>Jim Dupree: Gardening Enthusiast was shown some love by gardening enthusiasts <a href="http://www.gardenrant.com/my_weblog/2006/07/jim_dupree_gard.html">Garden Rant</a> and <a href="http://sacgardening.blogspot.com/2006/07/funny-jim-dupree-gardening-video-on.html">Garden Bliss</a>. Unfortunately they're both linked to our old YouTube videos, which we recently removed.</p>
<p>And speaking of our old YouTube videos, several other blogs were proudly displaying various JD:E episodes (until we ripped them down), including <a href="http://nagonthelake.blogspot.com/2007/09/jim-dupree-is-sarah-polley-enthusiast.html">Nag On The Lake</a>, <a href="http://headinout.info-blogs.com/index.php/2007/11/04/jim-dupree-time-travel-enthusiast/">Headinout</a>, <a href="http://www.lemmingworks.org/weblog/?p=252">Lemmingworks</a> and <a href="http://arcnwsptr.blogspot.com/2007/04/youtube-broadcast-yourself.html">Arc's Review</a>. Sorry for the sudden disappearance of the videos, everybody.</p>

They are finally done (most of them anyway). Dan and Tristan have spent the better part of four months “working” on them, and then a good six hours or so working harder on them this week. They feature a very simple, yet sleek, design and are aquatically themed. Most importantly, they are all handmade, for that personal touch. And we mean that literally. Some of the DVDs have the remains of our fingerprints on the back. If you didn’t order one, I bet you’re kicking yourself now.</p>

Jim Dupree will be airing on the (somewhat) large(r) screen, thanks to the folks at <a href="http://www.bitetv.ca/">BITE TV</a>. We’re not sure when you can watch it, but there is a schedule available on their site, which you can use. 10 episodes in total will be aired on Bite, some in all-new, exciting <strong>TV edit form</strong>!!!</p>
<p>The DVDs are still forthcoming. Life is busy, wouldn’t you know.</p>
<p>A new podcast from some of the people who brought you JD:E, as well as some people who didn’t bring you JD:E, is also forthcoming.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As you may have noticed, Jim Dupree: Enthusiast is now over. This may leave you with numerous questions, many of which are probably too boring to answer here. Regardless, here is a short FAQ that will give you the Dupree-related answers that you want, need, but most of all, deserve.</p>
<p><strong>Q:</strong> Is the show really over?</p>
<p><strong>A:</strong> Yes, it is really over.</p>
<p><strong>Q:</strong> So, do you two guys, like, hate each other now, or something?</p>
<p><strong>A:</strong> No more than when we started!… Just kidding, viewer! Dan and Tristan are not at all “at odds,” but have instead decided to take a very long break from doing something that has taken up a considerable amount of time for almost a year now. And by “a very long break,” we really mean “probably never do this again.”</p>
<p><strong>Q:</strong> So, what’s Dan going to do next?</p>
<p><strong>A:</strong> Dan will continue to work at the CBC, and maybe even go on strike someday. He will spend more time <a href="http://www.thecanaries.ca/">rocking out</a>. He will take over full control of the underground podcast hit <a href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/CanadianHeritageVignettes/">Canadian Heritage Vignettes</a>, and will continue to release them via CHV’s patented “slow trickle” strategy. He also “produces” CBC’s <a href="http://www.cbc.ca/podcasting/includes/editorschoice.xml">Editor’s Choice</a> podcast, hosted by Angela Misri, so if you want to ensure that you are subscribed to absolutely everything that Dan does (and we know that these sorts really do exist), be sure to take advantage of the many benefits of RSS aggregation today, and download all of them! And what&#8217;s more, Matt can totally hold his own in a conversation about <a href="http://www.atariage.com/software_page.html?SoftwareLabelID=141">Dig Dug</a>, <a href="http://www.atariage.com/software_page.html?SoftwareLabelID=199">Frostbite</a>, and <a href="http://www.atariage.com/software_page.html?SoftwareLabelID=375">Pressure Cooker</a>.</p>
<p>Episode 54 of <a href="http://web.mac.com/davebrodbeck/iWeb/Site/Podcast/A6CB129E-A5AA-4FF7-9E1F-AE9974DAD25B.html">Broca&#8217;s Area</a> finds Dave and Isabelle professing their love of the podcast. It&#8217;s especially funny when Isabelle gets excited about Dan&#8217;s &#8220;angelic&#8221; face and &#8220;button nose.&#8221;</p>
<p><a href="http://www.jameswhittingham.com/index-kevinannounce.html">JamesPod</a> mentions JD:E a couple of times in Episode 3 of their Podcasters Across Borders coverage, which also features Dave from Broca&#8217;s Area. Dan&#8217;s finely chiseled cheekbone was not a part of the discussion, sadly.</p>

Looks like you don&#8217;t need to meet up with some sketchy French-ish Canadian in an alley to get your own copy after all&#8230;</p>
